Building Science 1 [ARC 2413]
Project 1: Human Perception Of Comfort Level
TGC:
JASON NG CHI KAI 1101G13486
LEARNING OUTCOME:
1. Able to identify environmental conditions related to site conditions, climate and site context.
2. Able to explain the effect of insulation, thermal mass and air movement on thermal performance of buildings.
3. Able to explain the effect of sun on the thermal performance of buildings.
4. Able to infer how different building material (k-value, u-value, r-value) has different effect on heat gain or thermal environment in a given space.
2. Evaluate control of variables such as heat and ventilation.
3. Judge the limits of acceptable or desirable conditions (thermal environment) and recommend designs that control the effects of sun on the thermal performance of buildings (shading devices).
4. Able to calculate the total heat gain of the building design.

Design Studio 3 [ARC 2116]
Project 1: Journey For The 5 Senses
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Able to identify and explain different spatial types in architecture , and how they inform spatial use and experience.
2. Able to analyze case studies and inform the design project.
3. Able to create spatial typologies which impact on the uses and experiential conditions of space.
4 Generate design through considerations of section-plan relationship together with human scale, natural light, material and textures.
1a : PRECEDENT STUDIES:
Analysing spatial poetics & spatial typologies in architecture
1b : THE JOURNEY FOR THE 5 SENSES:
Project 2: GENIUS LOCI:
Site Analysis & Concept Development
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Able to have architectural response toward the sense of place with a strong engagement and relationship to the site.
2. Able to produce site analysis which document, interpret and analyze the site context and the 'genius loci' of the place.
2b : SKETCHES OF PERSONAL INTERPRETATION
Project 3: GENIUS LOCI:
Visitor Interpretive Centre (VIC)
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Able to generate design based on the unique character and conditions of the site context.
2. Able to generate design through consideration of section-plan relationship with consideration of human scale and materials.
3. Able to design a centre which response to the site.
4. Able to design a centre which express the spirit of the place

4.Able to produce personal interpretation of the site on form of sketches.
5. Able to use Gordon Cullen's serial vision and Steven Holl's phenomenological reading as the tool for recording interpretation.
